Keto diet, does it work?

Let's chat about a topic that's VERY popular at the moment. KETO!

The Keto Diet, you probably heard some of the health and physical benefits it can bring. The Keto Diet is designed to put the body in a state of ketosis. When your body is in ketosis, it is burning fat as a fuel source, as opposed to running on carbohydrates. The advantages to Keto include weight loss, boosted energy and fewer sugar spikes.

Reasons why I think Keto is wrong for you.

  1. The majority of exercises require short, intense bursts of energy is powered by carbs you eat. The human body stores carbs in the muscle cells as glycogen. That muscle glycogen becomes a fuel source for your body when you do any sort of activity that requires intense movement, like weight training.

  2. Carbs are our body’s fuel source, we’ve eaten berries, bread, rice and pasta dating back thousands of years. When you get into your Keto Diet its suppose to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. Initially, that process may leave you feeling less energised than usual when it comes to working out.

  3. While the Keto diet can use fat as a fuel source, it doesn’t mean that when you exercise, the body will use up all that fat. You still need to be burning more calories overall than you’re consuming to actually lose fat. (calorie deficit)

It’s in the name “Keto Diet” it’s a diet not a way of life. I teach all my clients to find a balance and to learn how to balance carbs, fats, proteins and even alcohol. To suit their lifestyle and goal, I’m not saying Keto is wrong or bad. It’s just not my chosen method for my clients and myself.

If you have any questions on your current nutrition/diet. please don't hesitate to ask.

Stay positive,
