A topic that my parents taught me.
Mum, "breakfast is the most important meal of the day it sets you up for the day"
Dad, "Eat like a king in the morning, a prince at lunch and a poorer in the evening"
Were they right...

Personal Training clients one to one in London and working with clients online. A common question asked or should I say a statement is about their diet “Breakfast increases your metabolism and starts the fat burning process” sorry ladies and gents, in my opinion, Ballshit!

kicking your metabolism into overdrive is not one of them. The concept that your metabolism needs a ‘boost’ from food right when you wake up is completely unfounded and scientifically not proven. So…

Breakfast is it worth it?

“breakfast is the most important meal of the day”
The story, it turns out that this argument is pretty weak now.

Benefits of breakfast
Eating breakfast is consistently associated with:
- Decreased overall appetite
- Decreased overall food consumption
- Decreased body weight
- Improved academic performance; and/or
- Improved blood sugar control

Benefits of no breakfast
What about skipping breakfast? Some research actually suggests that skipping breakfast might make you stronger, leaner, and healthier. So, will skipping breakfast be better for you?
Maybe yes. Maybe no.

skipping breakfast can:
- Increase fat breakdown (as long as calories takes are met)
- Great for hormone function. Improve blood glucose control
- Improve cardiovascular function
- A decrease in food intake

Nutrient timing is VERY helpful. Or it can add layers of unnecessary complexity. It all depends on you and your goals.
